Butte College Seats New Trustee

male trustee The Butte College Board of Trustees appointed John Nock of Durham as trustee for Area 6 at its December 14 Board meeting. Trustee Nock will serve for a four-year term effective December 9. He will represent Area 6 (rural Butte County), including Dayton, Durham, Nelson, Concow, Yankee Hill, Stirling City, Cohasset, Richardson Springs, Forest Ranch and North Chico.  

"Butte College is critical to building knowledge, abilities and skills amongst all of our community members," said Trustee Nock. "I am excited to become part of this institution and do what I can to continue the tradition of service."

Trustee Nock is a lifelong resident of Butte County and a farmer. He graduated from CSU, Chico, in 1989 with a bachelor's in business and finance. In 1993 he earned his Juris Doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1994. While attending Law School, he was appointed by Governor George Deukmejian to the California Student Aid Commission. He currently serves on the boards of the Sacramento River Forum and the Durham Community Foundation. He served 25 years as a member of the Board of Directors of Butte County Farm Bureau. He was named "Member of the Year" in 2015.  

"Trustee Nock's lifelong leadership and service to our community is a great asset to our district," said Superintendent/President Virginia Guleff. "I look forward to working with him to serve our students in our rural communities." 

Incumbent trustees Michael Boeger, Trustee Area 4, and John Blacklock, Trustee Area 5, were also sworn into new four-year terms at the meeting. President Guleff administered the oaths of office.
