Butte College Agriculture Students Earn FFA's Top Honor

Eight Butte College agriculture students earned their American FFA Degree at the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo. in Indianapolis on Oct. 26-29.

According to a statement from the FFA, the American FFA Degree shows a member's dedication to their chapter and state association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA careers. It is the highest FFA degree achievable. Fewer than one percent of members earn the degree.

"Earning this achievement and being able to attend the national convention was a huge honor," said Reis. "I was in FFA for about five years, and receiving the highest degree awarded to FFA members was a goal of mine. It was a great way to end my FFA career, and I feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to be a part of the program."

While at the convention, Reis participated in a "Women in Ag" networking event where she had the opportunity to meet and hear from women who had found success in Agriculture. "Hearing from these powerful women was both motivational and inspirational," she said.

Reis is enrolled in Butte College's agriculture business degree program. "I have had many great experiences with the professors at Butte College because they want me to succeed and continue my academic career."
