Butte College has been named a 2022 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement in Campuswide English Enrollment, Latinx English Enrollment, and Black English Enrollment. Butte College successfully supported 100 percent of students, including Latinx and Black students to enroll directly into transfer-level English coursework.
“This is a wonderful achievement for our faculty and students,” said Samia Yaqub, Butte College president. "Equitable placement in transfer-level classes significantly helps our students achieve their college goals."
Butte College will be recognized at an inaugural award ceremony held on Thursday, May 12 in Los Angeles by the Campaign for College Opportunity. Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and other California Community College honorees will be on hand.
